French tinkers, pig-gelders etc migrated seasonally and finally permanently from the late-ish Middle Ages, leaving traces in Spanish dialect, law, music, etc. I’m research-walking one of the routes they might have taken for the entire month of June with anyone reasonably fit and sociable who fancies coming along and contributing a minor subsidy. The plan is to walk five days and then rest one, the following being the points along the route where you get to take off your boots:

Difficulty: generally 20-25 km/day; crossing the Port de Vénasque at 2444 m, which should be reasonably clear of snow by mid-June – I’ll ask you to sign the all-inclusive disclaimer to cover avalanche risk.
Accommodation: hotel, hostels, casas rurales, or fields and forests if you’re short of cash.
