Nearly 1,000 persons demonstrated briefly in the center of [Barcelona today] to protest the arrest of 67 opponents of the regime of Generalissimo Francisco Franco, police sources said. It was the second such demonstration in two days.
The demonstrators, some carrying posters, ran down a broad avenue but disbanded before police appeared. There were no arrests.
On Sunday police raided a convent and detained 67 members of the illegal «Assembly of Catalonia», an anti-government organization with some Marxist tendencies. It was the second such mass arrest of Assembly members in less than a year.
On Wednesday, 50 of the arrested were released. Later in the day several hundred people demonstrated briefly in downtown Barcelona.
