{"id":27,"date":"2006-03-25T22:35:52","date_gmt":"2006-03-25T21:35:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cent1.hospedajeydominios.com\/~orenetcom\/baldie\/walks\/easy\/cherry-orchards\/"},"modified":"2014-12-04T22:10:27","modified_gmt":"2014-12-04T21:10:27","slug":"cherry-orchards","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/oreneta.com\/baldie\/spanish-walking-tours\/barcelona-walking-tours\/barcelona-country-walks\/cherry-orchards\/","title":{"rendered":"Cherry orchards, castle, forests, chapels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This walk starts in a pretty hilltop village in the hills near Barcelona, dominated by a 12th century castle (<a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/el_papiol\/castle_lorry.jpg';\">1<\/a>\/<a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/el_papiol\/castle_closeup.jpg';\">2<\/a>\/<a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/el_papiol\/castle.jpg';\">3<\/a>) and with various other interesting buildings and an impressive display of Mediterranean flora (check out the Agave americana v. variegata <a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/el_papiol\/agave_americana_01.jpg';\">1<\/a>\/<a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/el_papiol\/agave_americana_03.jpg';\">2<\/a>\/<a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/el_papiol\/agave_americana_02.jpg';\">3<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>As we climb into the hills behind, with <a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/el_papiol\/llobregat_west.jpg';\"> views over Catalonia's old industrial heartland<\/a>, we'll visit an interesting Miocene site, with a profusion of tiny fossils preserved in well-stratified marine deposits and big natural crevices.<\/p>\n<p>Then up into the forest, where we'll stop briefly at a <a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/puig_madrona\/la_salut.jpg';\">Romanesque sanctuary<\/a> and a high lookout point, with views of <a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/puig_madrona\/collserola.jpg';\">the Collserola range<\/a>, Montserrat, Sant Lloren\u00e7 del Munt, Montseny etc.<\/p>\n<p>As we come down the other side of the valley, we'll encounter <a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/puig_madrona\/can_barba_majolica.jpg';\">old farms<\/a>, <a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/puig_madrona\/can_barba_spring.jpg';\">secret springs thronged with massive trees<\/a>, and <a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/serra_del_misser\/olive.jpg';\">soft fruit orchards (mainly cherries)<\/a>, with good long views of the castle (<a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/serra_del_misser\/castle_flowers.jpg';\">1<\/a>\/<a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/serra_del_misser\/castle_path.jpg';\">2<\/a>\/<a href=\"#pic\" onClick=\"document.main_photo.src='\/img\/walks\/baix-llobregat\/serra_del_misser\/castle_main.jpg';\">3<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This walk starts in a pretty hilltop village in the hills near Barcelona, dominated by a 12th century castle (1\/2\/3) and with various other interesting buildings and an impressive display of Mediterranean flora (check out the Agave americana v. variegata 1\/2\/3).
