My hosting provider is blaming yesterday’s down on Telefónica fooking oop the DNS. Conversation the other week with shop assistant employed by Movistar, the Telefónica mobile subsidiary:
- Hello, I want to change this phone from Vodaphone to Movistar, keeping the number and using pre-pay.
- OK, let me take your details and you can come back next week to pick up the chip.
- Ah, I’m not going to be here next week. Can you tell me if you’ve got a branch nearer where I’m currently based?
- Er … um … no, I don’t have that information here. Why don’t you call customer service?
- Hello, customer service, how can I help you?
- I’m trying to find out if there’s a Movistar outlet in or near A.
- OK, can you tell me what street it’s on?
- No, I’m trying to find out if there is one.
- Ah, well I’m sorry but can’t help you there.
- So you’re working for a business which uses shops to sell products to people like me and you don’t know where they are?
- Hold on, I’ll put you through to my manager.
- Hello, what seems to be the problem?
- I’m trying to find out if there’s a Movistar outlet in or near A.
- Can you tell me why you need this information?
I’m going to use Orange-Amena.
