    A. A tiny one, illustrated by the comical pre-Wende habit of teaching kids the Marseillaise in Hungarian. I’m not sure I’ve ever met someone of French nationality who knew it off—certainly all those I’ve asked managed about the first three lines, no more—but my flatmate Jóska, from Budapest, knows the whole thing.

    That’s hilarious.

    (”Land of hope and glory” is being used for a Spanish Direct Line insurance telly ad at the moment, but I’m sure no one here has the faintest.)
