Our village is horrible

Annual dinner of the development group of a rural council somewhere in Catalonia. Local bigwig stands up and gives a long and boring talk: another quiet year, subsidies looking good for next, thankyou for your confidence, has anyone else got anything they’d like to say. There’s a long silence, then a slightly desperate-looking woman gets up at the other end of the table and says, “We’re wasting our time. There is absolutely nothing to do in this village and there never will be. It’s horrible.” The meeting adjourns to the bar.
