Carod Rovira is the notoriously stupid Spanish Catalan politician who recently achieved international prominence during an official visit to Israel by refusing to honour the memory of Yitzhak Rabin because his tribe’s favourite flag wasn’t flying from the mast. He has inspired several verbs, carodear and carodrizar, the English translation of which is “carod it”, an anagram of which is “carotid”, the source of which is the Greek καρωτίδ-ες, f. καρούν, to plunge into deep sleep, to stupefy. By complete coincidence I’m now off to Raging bull. Make of that what you will.
