When I occasionally read La Vanguardia, there’s always something in it’s foreign news coverage that cracks me up, even when it’s not plagiarised, falsified, or illiterate. Today it’s Tomás Alcoverro (beware pop-up hell), the paper’s Beirut correspondent, oft-flayed here, who sums up an article on the anti-Syrian protests thus: “Tripoli has always maintained its Arab character in this multi-faith Lebanon.”
