Now I’m off to get steaming on cheap spirits and fizz with the gay Valencian waiters’ clique, several of whom hope to wait no longer in the new year: whatever one’s procedural doubts, the new same-sex marriage law is the first thing that Zapatero has done that I feel is worth celebrating.
