I went into the local la Caixa this morning to credit a couple of cheques (Dutch, American) to my account and the cashier started trembling with bureaucracy: “You’ll have to go to the branch where you opened your account if you want to deposit foreign cheques.” “?????? … but it’s in another town, and I always do this here.” “Sorry, it’s much too dangerous. Next please.” So now I’ll have to find someone else who’ll charge me exorbitant commission and take 6 weeks processing the bl00dy things.
