Kitchen table on a farm in Bages, Catalonia, Spain. Big liver-transplanted Catalan farmer flanked on the one side by elderly mum and Murcian wife, on the other by two Senegalese migrant workers. Farmer: They won’t learn Catalan because they want to come back from Paris and work in [Spanish-speaking] Huesca in the spring. Sénégalais 1: You can use Spanish everywhere. It’s like French. Sénégalais 2: Speaking Catalan is like speaking a primitive African language in Senegal. Granny: If they’re Moors, how come they don’t speak Muslim?
