The Catalanistas are up in arms because a judge over in Torrelavega, Cantabria has denied custody of two children to the mother, now living in Lérida/Lleida, Catalonia on the grounds that this could “cause them certain disturbances,” being an autonomous community “in which important differences of cultural order with respect to Cantabria exist, particularly in linguistic matters.”

This sentence is obviously ridiculous, and it may turn out that judge was just seeking a means by which to discriminate against the mother, whose new partner is a woman. However the crazy gang, in arguing against the judge, are also telling us something interesting: that they don’t regard the cultural order here as being that different from the rest of Spain.

(The Crazy Quilt Society could have been interesting. It is not.)
