is that factory going to give me cancer?

That’s what this new Dutch website, Recht om te Weten (The Right to Know), aims to tell you. And it’s not the work of some nutter: the Dutch environment ministry is paying for it and it’s being run by a bunch of environmental organisations with support from the University of Nijmegen. What it does is relate your postcode to registered factory emissions and figure your risk. An initial glance suggests that you’re better off living in Nijmegen than in Rotterdam, particularly anywhere near the oil and chemical installations in the harbour. I think the server will be pretty busy tonight.
