The walk

This walk takes you from a the peaceful main square of a seaside village (breakfast and picnic supplies if you need them) up via a hillside village to a beautiful 18th century sanctuary, with a cool tapas bar next door. The next leg continues climbing through Mediterranean woodland over crumbling granite boulders to a sacred spring and then to a 10th century Romanesque hermitage with splendid views of the coast and inland (Barcelona, Montserrat, Montseny) and meadows where we’ll have a picnic.

The return route takes us to the posh end of the hillside village, with a 16th century church and sundials and some beautiful 18th and 19th century (farm)houses and villas, one of which has a lovely family bar and terrace. At the end you’ll have the option of staying on to hang out on the beach or in the village, or you may want to visit the local textile museum in an art nouveau gas factory.
