The business (basically a CRM database) passed into better hands in 2012. These materials remain here for cannibalisation and amusement.
The baldie meanwhile has found pastures new: as a singing organ-grinder for your event in the UK, France, Belgium, the Netherlands or Spain!
La Marseillaise got its name from the revolutionaries of this city who sang it with such enthusiasm in 1792, and this great Mediterranean port has often failed to connect with metropolitan government, ranging from a spat with Julius Caesar in 49 BC to the current perception that it could become the melting pot model for a new France. Marseille is no longer the sin city where Gene Hackman filmed The French connection, and the old port has been gentrified to make it a major tourist destination.
Your tour starts in the old port, amidst fishermen and pleasure craft, and takes you past the stylish 17th century town hall and a bastion guarding the harbour entrance up to the 19th century cathedral and is 12th century predecessor. You'll then enter the old quarter--a warren of medieval streets--and pass a 17th century poorhouse, the 16th century town museum on your way down to visit the remains of the 3rd century BC Greek port. Then you'll travel by municipal bus to the great basilica on the hill on which the city lies, with marvellous views of the surrounding countryside. Then an atmospheric Gothic abbey with the relics of martyrs and the lighthouse park overlooking the city, followed by a bus back to the port.
